Lexington, KY Ladd's Enagagement Party

Ladd and Danielle are getting married in April. Her parents hosted us in Lexington for an amazing weekend celebrating their upcoming marriage. Ray, Radcliff, Allison, and I flew the 182 to Lexington which was a 4 hour flight. Friday night there was a party at the Lexington Country Club where we met Danielle's family. Jud, Liz, Ray, and I stayed at Danielle's Father's horse farm , Poplar Hill, which once belonged to Thomas Jefferson. A natural spring just below the guest house was a warm 68 degrees on a chilly Lexington night. Jud, Ray, bourbon, and scotch thought it would be a good idea to swim in the spring after the party Friday night.

The guest house at Poplar Hill farm was amazing. It is on the Historic National Registry and has been renovated with modern conveniences while maintaining its historic integrity.

On the way home from Lexington we stopped in Red Boiling Springs, TN where the Hix are from. We rode 4-wheelers for about 4 hours through creeks and we were all soaking wet along with our clothes. Since we had to ship our clothes due to the weight load on the Cessna, no one had anything to change into. We borrowed what we could from Ray's aunt & uncle but we still looked like hobos in the Montgomery Airport on the stop to refuel.

Danielle's family took us to Keeneland Horse Racing Track for a day of racing. Seeing a horse race has been on my short list of things to do for a long time. Now I am going to have to go back again not pregnant!
